Nowadays consumer products are very easy to pick up meaning people are able to make content more easily even if they only have a small budget. Once technology exists, other companies can begin reverse engineering them and producing them at a lower cost. This means that cheaper alternatives become available and consumers can then access and use technology. Examples include cameras, editing applications and mobile devices such as phones and tablets, all of which can be used to make or access film and TV content.
For example, an Arri Alexa camera would cost well over £40,000 whereas the Canon 80D would cost around £750.
